After caring deeply for the kids in the first season of Stranger Things and breathing a huge sigh of relief when Will was rescued alive, the second season of our favorite show is back and this time too Will is in danger but of a whole new kind and magnitude.
Season One was very close to being perfect but it had a few drawbacks like I felt it focused majorly on just the Byers and the Wheeler family. Even Barbara was stuck in the same Upside down as Will but we hardly got to see what her family was doing, which felt a little odd. Adding to this, I also felt that the first season could have been a little shorter had they let the kids let El explain the entire concept of Upside down and how she can help to find Will. Instead, they decided to unravel the mystery over time, which felt a little dragged at times, but hey! I’m not complaining because it was such a good watch, despite these little drawbacks.
Season Two addressed these issues. We got to meet the family of Dustin and Lucas. We also got to see how disturbed the family of Barbara is and how they are still looking out for her. In short, the second season did more in terms of storytelling and character development than the previous season which makes it even better than the first season and an absolutely spectacular watch.
The one drawback (sorry, I just cannot help it) is the introduction of the character of Kali. The character does not leave a lasting impression and the one episode where El spends time with her is the weakest episode of the entire season. But on the upside, we got to see El in this amazing avatar…
The characters are so loveable and well written, you just cannot stop falling in love with them. My favorites from this season were Dustin and Steve. Steve, who was seen as the bad guy in season one, had a complete face turn and brought out his caring side, which on the internet has been described as “Motherly”. Dustin, man! words fail to describe how earnest, since, funny and relatable his character was. Dustin and Steve also combined to form one hell of a team and what they achieved together…, well, you will have to watch and find out!
Mike and El continued to share a special connection and are so close to being #CoupleGoals
While Joyce Byers continued to be Mom of the year and the best TV mom, ever…
Overall, Stranger Things is a remarkable show, with scintillating writing, amazing performances and not to forget glorious cinematography.
So, if you still haven’s seen the second season, the show is streaming on Netflix and if you still haven’t seen the first season, make a good life decision and start watching the show.
